Arthur “Jimmy” Roosevelt Lassiter, 82, of Bumpass, Va., passed away on Friday, October 23, 2015. Jimmy is survived by his son, Ronald Lassiter, his daughter, Sandra Hicks (Bill), his grandchildren, Courtney Grace (Ian), Brandon Hicks, Ashley Hicks, Zachary Hicks, Victoria Lassiter and his great-grandson, Tanner Grace. He is also survived by his sister, Jean Willis (Pret) of Montpelier, VA and nieces, Clara Henshaw and Eunice Sharpe. Jimmy was born in Louisa County, VA on July 17, 1933 to Florence Elizabeth Sharpe and Patrick Henry Lassiter. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Billy, Clarence, Henry and his sisters, Edith, Edna, and Muriel. After graduating from Louisa County High School, Jimmy joined the army and was stationed in Germany as a medical technician. After his service to the country, Jimmy came back to Louisa, worked construction, married his high school sweetheart and started his family. Jimmy eventually started his own construction company, became a deacon in his church, taught Sunday school, and served as Jackson District supervisor. Jimmy enjoyed life, filling his time with good friends and cultivating his vegetable gardens. Jimmy was especially known for his annual pig roasts, stews and hosting various “get togethers”. Jimmy’s kind, giving nature will be missed by his many friends and family.A memorial service will be held at Fork Baptist Church in Bumpass, VA., 14357 Jefferson Hwy. on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at 2:00pm. A celebration of Jimmy’s life will follow in the fellowship hall of the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to any Hospice program or to a charity of your choice.
